What do I do if my Hearing Aid doesn't work?

  1. Change battery.
  2. Examine the end that goes into the ear and see if its blocked by wax.
  3. If you have a behind-the-ear hearing aid, see that the on/off switch is NOT in the "t" telecoil position.

My hearing aid got wet. What should I do?
Open the battery door. Place a bath towel in a V shape around the hearing aid and use a hair dryer on med heat to blow into the aid for 15 min.

What should I look for in a hearing instrument specialist?
Look for someone who has good equipment that allows you to see clearly inside of your ears if wax is present. Use a specialist who will help you with a cleaning regimen.

Why is it important for me to try on several different brands of hearing aids before I buy?
To make sure you are hearing the very best you can according to your hearing loss. There is more than one or two brands of hearing aids that can work for anyone.

Why should it matter what hearing aid office I go to?
Service and good follow-up service are some of the most critical aspects of a hearing aid purchase. Without good service your hearing aid investment could be a "bad" investment.

What if I only want hearing aids that you can't see? Can I get what I want?
Yes, you can invest in the smallest aids made. However, will they put out enough sound? The larger the hearing aid the more sound you might possibly hear.

What is the best brand to buy?
That depends; the best way to tell is to try different kinds of hearing aids before you purchase to determine what works the best for you.

Should I have a physician examine my ears?
A physician should always be used if you suspect something other than a hearing loss that can happen with age.
